Nikon 5000ed Locks up when using isrd

Hi,
When using the WorkflowPilot, slide, web, 48-24, and Medium format, and isrd prescan the scanner locks up and the power light starts blinking. This also locks up the Silverfast 8, until I stop the prescan all together. Then the Silverfast has no control over the scanner. I have to power off then power on the scanner and restart Silverfast in order to get it all working again. It happens when I have the isrd in the automatic mode.

This does not happen all the time but a lot of times. It also locks up sometimes in the kodachrome mode.

Is there any way that I can prevent these lock ups?

By the way I really like the Silverfast 8 program!

Have you tried downloading and installing SilverFast again?.

Yes, I have downloaded Silverfast again and I still have the same problem.
I am wondering if the memory for my computer is not large enough?
Or, there is a mechanical problem with the scanner?
How much memory does Silverast really need when working with the coolscan 5000?
Has anyone else had this same problem with the coolscan 5000?

The minimum memory requirement is 2GB but you should have at least 4GB for larger files.

SilverFast also uses cache files on the main harddrive.
So there should also be enough free space.

Hi,

I am also getting frequent lock ups, usually in the pre-scan (though I don't use Workflow Pilot) but also occasionally during a scan. I have also tried re-installing the software with no improvement.

Arne, have you had any feedback from your testing center on this issue?

We could not reproduce this exact issue but I suspect a memory issue here.
We are currently looking for ways to improve this.

I continue to have the same problem; in fact version SF-8.0.1r2(Nikon) will not even complete a pre-scan making the software completely un-usable. Version 6.6 works fine but I have wasted so much time trying to get version 8 to work.I've tried un-installing/re-installing, running in Photoshop, as stand alone. Please fix this.

Version SF-8.0.1r5(Nikon) seems to be working OK - thank you.
