LaserSoft Imaging

We have some problems with Silverfast 5.5. I've just rebuilt this machine twice because of this problem, and need advice on fixing it. I have a 1Ghz celeron, 256 MB ram, 30GB HD. Win2K. I have the Nikon LS-40 ED scanner. We installed Nikon Scan 3/drivers and the scanner worked flawlessly. We installed the silverfast application and now the Nikon Scan 3 or Silverfast 5.5 will not launch. The applications start and uses 100% CPU and locks up. I did get a warning when installing the silverfast app that a Nknscn95.dll was needed to be replaced and to have Silverfast do this. I've tried removing the .dll and re-installing the NikonScan 3 but nothing works. I'm getting a little frustrated rebuilding this machine and would like to know what's happening. We definitely know it's related to Silverfast because everything was working great up until we installed this app.

Please be aware that SilverFast Ai and NikonScan ver. 3.0 do not go together!
If you want to use NikonScan as well, do install NikonScan 3.1.2 first and subsequently install SilverFast 5.5.

Thanks for your reply. I did do all of the following, and it still does not detect the scanner. I guess it's off to reload everything for the third time. This time I'll try and skip the Nikon driver load from Nikon. Thanks again for your help. I've never had so much trouble with two products that are suppose to work together.If this doesn't work than I'm returning the SF, and cutting my losses.
