Hi,

my SF 5.5.2 (from r02 to r17) permanently crashes when I scan negatives using the CleanImage feature. It works fine without this (regular scan), but with active dust/grain removal it crashes regardless of if a filter (USM etc.) is applied or not.
Did anyone else experience this behaviour?
I always removed the old and reinstalled the new version cleanly. I guess if it was a general bug of SF, most users would already have noticed it; is it possible that OS 8.6 is at fault?
(Mac G4, OS 8.6, PS 6.0.1, SF 5.5.2, Nikon LS-4000)

Dear BB,
do you have NikonScan installed as well? What version of NikonScan?

Please visit this site:

Yes, I have NikonScan 3.1.2, but I installed Silverfast cleanly following your instructions (removed the Nion MAID preferences folder etc.), so there should be no conflict with the original software, I suppose?. With NikonScan these problems do not occur, by the way. However, I could try to set up the whole thing without NikonScan.

Now I set up my machine completely from scratch with OS 9.2.2, did not install NikonScan at all, and it seems to work alright (except missing color profiles for the Nikon scanner, but I guess I can fix that).
