Just tested negative direct with a very old kodak 400 negative and I can honestly say it worked better then using Negafix in this case. I think you have solved the older film profile problem, by incorporating this into SF. Thank You

I have a Super Coolscan 4000ED.

I just tested 'Neg: Direct' on a Kodak Supra 100 photo, and the product was definitely better than using Negafix. The colors of the two scans were so different that I have to wonder about the accuracy and reliability of the Negafix profiles. The Negafix scan was cool while the Neg: Direct scan was warm and much closer to the original environment's color as I remember it. The skin color of the young actress in the photo was also significantly better in the Neg: Direct scan.

This makes me wonder if there is any benefit at all to using Negafix with the Super Coolscan scanner. Neg: Direct appears to be more accurate without requiring the user to select the film type. It's mildly confusing.

If you are recreating profiles for the Nikon scanners, please note that I use the following films on a regular basis:

Kodak Supra 100 & 400
Kodak APS 100, 200 & 400

regards
Gregory
