LaserSoft Imaging

I wanted to change from original nikon soft (not professional enough in the settings to get scans for printing) to Silverfast. Downloaded latest demo to try. But B/W scans are too hard, no details in the shadows and grainy in comparison to nikon soft. Negafix curves w'ont help. I put them to linear. no change. Where is the problem? I changed manually the curve, but still cannot get any detail in the shadows.

Problems with Nikon film scanner and NegaFix

Dear user,

general descriptions of problems do not help anyone nor can a helpul analysis be derived from that. I would also recommend to address very special problems directly with our support people or send them directly to me.
In any case, what is needed for an analysis is:

1. Scanner model used
2. Operating System
3. Version of SilverFast
4. Type of film
5. SilverFast Logfile

In addition:
A raw data file of your scan


There could also be a problem with the Nikon Maid, which is the Nikon low-level driver we have to use.
Just quickly submit the required information and we will immediately analyse where the problem lies.

Dear Manray,
please do NOT use the ICE function when you scan b/w film material !!!
This will spoil your image.
