Yes I have had to give up on batch scanning for this reason. Now I have to scan in batch mode ,collect in Photoshop and then Save As into the correct file. Spent a lot of time rescanning files which did not arrive into their correct files before I watched them in Thumbs Plus replace each other.

At least I'm quite happy to read that it's not just me who is having the problem.
I was having an e-mail conversation about this with Lasersoft support. This "conversation" was dealt with on a "level" and style by Lasersoft that I have strong doubts about the reliability of Lasersofts support organization:
I was describing how to reproduce the bug and gave very detailed informations also on my system (WinXP).
The reply I got was that LS-Support never saw the problem on his Mac...(!!!)
...and subsequently kept me busy creating screenshots thereafter instead of just trying to reproduce with the parameters I had given to him.
I think Silverfast is a great product I could hardly live without (;-)) but depending on the release can be extremely buggy.
Anyway, the support should take a bit more care to take paying customers more serious and not to try to get rid of their requests as easy quick and dirty as possible!
I reinstalled the last 5.5.1 release and the numbering problems are gone. As I use HDR, the 48bit output in the new HDR is sufficient for me anyway.
