So, since LaserSoft's website says that the version for Nikon is available where is it? I can only find a MAC version on some scanners; that DOES NOT (IMHO) make it available.

When will 5.5.2 with full 48 bit support be "generally" available to LS 4000 users for the Windows platform ??

SilverFast Ai 5.5.2 for windows
We have to ask for a little bit of patience ( about until the end of this week) and SilverFast
Ai 5.5.2 will be generally available for Windows!
So far you can enjoy SilverFast
HDR for windows which can work with raw data of you scanner!

OK, I'm missing something here.
I have D/L 5.5.2 for the coolscan III, uninstalled 5.5.1, deleted the preference file, installed 5.5.2, installed the IT-8 option, calibrated the system, set up the options per I. Lyon's site, check that SF reports version 5.5.2 and I still can not find any option for 48 bit output.
What am I missing??

OK, After posting the last message I went back into the D/L area and no Nikon Windows 5.5 AI update files show up. Is there a problem with the windows version and it has been pulled??
The demo version of 5.5.2 for windows is still there but the upgrade ismissing. I looked for a message in the forums for some indication from LaserSoft about what is going on and could not find anything.
What is going on??
Some information please!

It is in fact gone. But I can tell you that 200 scans later, it works at 48 bits.
The 48 bit save option is under the Frame tab
Frame --> Scan Type --> 48 bit Colour

Thanks, That is where I thought it should be but I get no choice to 48 bit. There is only three choices. Line Art, 10 bit B&W, and 30 - 24 bit. Any ideas why it might not have 48 bit even thought the version says 5.5.2??
Thanks

Are you sure your scanner is capable of 48 bit output?

The scanner is capable of 30 bit output which other scanning programs that output 48 bit just place zeros in the high bits. That is what I was expecting SF to do to produce a 48 bit file.

In the past Silverfast didn't provide highbit outut from the LS30. It is possible that they just never implemented it, but my assumption was that this was down to fact that the Nikon SDK prevents it. At one time Nikon got awfully p....d at some folk for even suggesting the highbit output from the LS30 was possible let alone available.
