Coolscan 5000 IT8 Calibration & HDR to Photoshop Problem
PostPosted: Fri Dec 26, 2008 3:51 pm
Hi, I am having problems getting my Coolscan 5000 with Silverfast Ai(IT8) and HDR set up properly for scanning slide film. I scan, process through HDR and the images seem fine, once I get into Photoshop the histogram is compressed to the left half and image is dark and flat. I am sure I have something set up wrong in either AI or HDR. I followed Ian Lyons Tutorials on Basic Steps to IT-8 Calibration and Basic steps for optimising high-bit Scans. I am able to Scan and Process negatives with no issues, struggling with positives.
Here are my CMS Settings in Ai
Color Management
Input -> Internal = Internal Color Management
Internal -> Monitor = Internal Color Management
Internal -> Output - RGB
Profiles for ICM
Input = SF_T (Nikon LS-5000)
Internal = Chrome Space 100 J. Holmes
Grey = QTR Gray Matte Paper
Rendering Intent = Perceptual
Embedded ICC Profiles
Embed IC Profile is checked
Profile to Embed = SF_T (Nikon LS-5000) Note: Seems like this should be Chrome Space 100 J. Holmes but I can't change this.
Scans are made in Ai 48 Bit HDR Colour
HDR CMS Settings
Colour Management
Input -> Internal = Used Embedded Profile
Missing Profile is checked
Internal -> Monitor = Image Colour Matching
Internal -> Output - RGB
Profiles for ICM
Input grayed out
Internal = Chrome Space 100 J. Holmes
Grey = QTR Gray Matte Paper
Rendering Intent = Perceptual
Image specifics from assign profile dialogue (all grayed out)
Input -> Internal = Used Embedded Profile
Input profile = SF_T (Nikon LS-5000)
Embedded ICC Profiles (all grayed out)
Embedded Profile = SF_T (Nikon LS-5000)
Embed ICC Profile is checked
Profile to Embed = Chrome Space 100 J. Holmes
Process the HDR Image seems fine in the HDR software - Good histogram. Open in Photoshop dark image with histogram to the left half.
Thoughts / advice appreciated.
