Issue With IT8 and SilverFast

Hi,
I seem to be having in intermittent issue when creating a profile for my Nikon LS-50 (CoolScan V). I am using SilverFast Studio IT8 v6.5.0r8a.
To run the calibration, I have been following a procedure on <http> to set SilverFast so color management is temporarily disabled. Basically, I set everything to "none," create a profile, point to this profile, and set color management back to ColorSync for Input -> Internal and Internal -> Monitor, and to RGB for Internal -> Output.
I have had difficulty in setting everything back. I will sometimes get an error saying that I must enter a setting for Internal (even though it is already selected using the profile I just created) because I am using using ColorSync for Input -> Internal.
I sometimes create another new profile and am choose my newly-created scanner profile. Other times I can't choose my new profile, in which case I will select one of the stock profiles for the CoolScan V.
I am sometimes very cautious in deciding whether to go with a new update for fear that CMS will be "broken."
Does anyone have any similar issues?
Thanks,
Rocky
