Upgrading from 6.5.0.r3 to r6 - Error opening NKScnUSD.dll

I downloaded the upgrade via the Launcher for my Nikon IV ED. The download worked OK. When I attempt to install I get the following message: \windows\system32\NKScnUSD.dll - error opening. I cannot get past this.

How do I download a fix. How Do I ensure that strting the LAuncher installes the fix and not the buggy install.?

Thanks

Reboot (no kidding) - then install

It's an OS issue and not a bug neither of the installer nor the OS. A shared library, or DLL in Windows speak, may be "busy" when someone or something is trying to overwrite one, that is all.

So in short simply download your upgrade, reboot and then install (again).

Shoenen Dank aber es ist nicht so einfach

1. I uninstalled Nikon 3.1 Scan software and rebooted
2. Then deleted all files as per Silverfast instruction for installing version 5.5 ( google found it!)
3. I made sure that NKScnUSD.dll
was no longer present
4. I rebooted
5. I downloaded SF 6.5.0r6 dated 12 May 2007. Is this the latest version?
6. Installation stopped at the point where NKScnUSD.DLL was reinstalled by SF. BTW the file installed by SF is dated 6March2001
7. As the above file as well as other Nikon files were installed, the question is what is the next file to be extracted and download - this is where the problem lies.

Assistance by SF will be appreciated.

Dear wizard,
the message regarding the NKScnUSD.dll pops up when the scanner is still switched on while installing SilverFast. In this case, the Nikon driver still occupies this dll. Either switch off the scanner before installation or switch it off after the message appears and press the Retry button to continue.

However, while trying to reproduce the problem you reported, I noticed that another dll was not copied to the right place. I fixed this in the Installer that will be online in a few minutes.

Berthold,

1. I downloded the r6 dates 21/5/2007
2. I turned off the Nikon unit
3. I deleted all the NK*.* files in Windows\system32 amd winNT\system32
4. I rebooted the PC
5. I tried to install r6 BUT it hung EXACTLY where it did previously.

Regret to say but we are are where we were a few days ago. Your assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks
