SF Multi-Exposure Question

Postby rapope » Tue Dec 12, 2006 5:34 am

With SilverFast Ai Studio ME, how is Multi-Exposure invoked? Are the scans now performed as described in the description of ME?

I am using a supported scanner, Nikon CoolScan V ED (LS-50).

Thank you,

Well, I Performed A Better Search ...

I dug through the QuickTime movies on the website and was able to answer my own question. I didn't realize that the Multi-Exposure mode would not be available until I switched the mode to 48-bit. That was my problem. I went through the Multi-Scan modes and didn't see Multi-Exposure as a choice. Once I switched SF to 48-bit mode, the Multi-Exposure options were available.

Multi-Exposure LS-40

I have the scan mode at either 48 bit or 48 bit HDR and the ME options do not show on the vertical tool bar. I only get the 1 through 16 multi-scan options. It does work on my Epson 4870 with ME.
Thanks

That Sounds Like A Question For ...

That's strange. Your scanner is supported. This might be a question for LaserSoft to answer.

If you're not content to wait for a reply, you might want to call the support line. I had to do this because I had an issue with the scanner being seen by the program. I didn't want to wait for email or the forum. BTW, I have been told that the forums aren't for tech support issues .

Best of luck,

Rocky

Mike,

I had the same trouble.
I normally use the "Classic Windows" desktop layout. That's the problem. When I changed the desktop to "Windows XP" the ME option became available. I have a Epson 4990.

Thanks all.

rapope - I was hoping someone here might have had an answer faster than tech support usually replies to questions. As to the scanner being seen, when I updated to 644r7 the Nikon was not detected either but the Epson was. I've contacted tech support and have yet to get a detailed answer other than delete the folder and reinstall. Of course that was already tried so I feel your pain. The upgrade to 65 went smoothly as far as seeing the scanner goes.

Jaap Driest -- I have the 4870 and ME works fine using XP Desktop but the Nikon was not. I switched to Classic and neither showed ME. When I switched back the Nikon is now stuck on 4ME and will not switch to any other setting?????

Have a Merry Christmas and a Good New Year
Thanks

Mike

Assume you don't have both scanners on at one time ? or on the same bus ?

degrub - Some times yes that both are on at the same time.
On the same bus? One is in a USB port on the rear and one is in a port on the front of the computer.
Is that going to be a problem??
Thanks

THe Nikon libraries were know to have problems with more than one scanner ( or other device) on the bus at a time. THey liked to be on a dedicated bus port. Don't remember if having two scanners on separate dedicated buses was a problem though.

Depends on if those two bus ports are on the same controller. If not, then should be ok.

It Turned Out To Be ...

Postby rapope » Tue Dec 26, 2006 7:34 am

Mike,

I am using Mac OX X. It turned out to be improper permissions to some of the library folders. They apparently weren't set to RW for the active user. LaserSoft put up a revised folder that had the correct permissions applied.

Regards,

Rocky
