hello, i have a nikon coolscan V scanner on windows xp.
yesterday i bought the last silverfast SE version plugin for photoshop.
how can i use the soft to scan B&W negatives (TMAX 100 or TMAX 400)
it is impossible to choose 16 bits grayscal mode. why ?
i can only choose 8 bits gray mode or 16bitHDRgray mode.
when i use 16bitHDRgray mode, the result on photoshop is not like the prescan and the result is inverted.
thanks for your help

Dear brulas

it is not possible to use 48 bits of colour or 16 bits greyscale with SilverFast SE. The option is reserved for the professional variant, SilverFast Ai.

To scan negatives, you select in SilverFast's > main control dialogue window > General tab > Pos./Neg.: Negative.
A new window "Negafix" opens and you select Kodak>B/W>TMax 100 or Kodak>B/W>TMax 400.

The HDR scan is a unmodified scan mode; no image optimatisation options are available, image is scanned with unmodified gamma of 1.0 and should indead come out as unconverted.
The idea is use the image as a raw scan file and to do the final productive steps in SilverFast HDR or DCPro.
(Of course, after image optimatisation, creative retouching in Photoshop may still follow.)

Please note that the purpose of the imaging forum is not to provide personal support. It is intended to serve as a platform for imaging professionals for exchange of experience and communicating ideas [ viewtopic.php?p=9763&highlight=9763 ].
Therefore LSI staff will only provide limited support in the forum.
Thank you in anticipation of your kind co-operation.
