Scanns look like line art in photoshop

Postby clarence » Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:56 pm

I have a Nikon coolscan V ED and silverfast Ai 6.4.4 When I pre-scan a B&W negative image in silverfast it looks great. When I make the final scan into Photoshop CS2 it looks all blocked up more like B&W (no tones) line art.

Can you tell me what setting I have to change?

Thank You

Clarence

did you have ICE on?

When I first started playing around with the Coolscan V one of the first mistakes I made was to leave ICE on after I'd been working on some color negs and switched over to work with B & W negs. I knew of course that ICE doesn't work with B & W material, it's just I plain forgot I had it on when I switched over. I sat there for an hour looking at my results, wondering why the stuff looked like lithographs instead of photographs, until the penny finally dropped!

This may or may not have been your problem, but the description you gave of your results sounds similar.

Cheers..........Tim
