ICE active...but not working (5000ed)

Postby philllie1 » Wed Apr 12, 2006 4:06 pm

Hi
I have ICE active but it is no more working with silverfast. I always had ICE activated and it worked well. Then a friend wanted to compare to Silverfasts SRD and I turned it on once. Since then whatever ICE setting I use - it is no more working.
I use Silverfast v.6.4.3r9 with nikon 5000ed

I uninstalled silverfast and installed it again - it didn't work
I tested ICE together with Nikon Scan - it works fine ...so the scanner is ok to.

thanks for help
Phil

I don't know what OS you are using, but you might try resetting SilverFast by deleting the Prefs.

Dear Phil

either SRD or ICE - only one of the defect correction methods can be activate at a given time.
However, deleting prefs (as RAG wrote) will help, too.
>>Setting back to factory settings<< in the options panel does set the options themselves back to defaults, but not necessarily the settings within SilverFast.

You perhaps want to use the SilverFast Service Dialogue to completely reset to default settings by deleting the prefs.

Hi
thanks for your reply.
I am aware that either srd or ice can be activated - that's logical and it has been like that before. also: once you activate ice, srd ist deactivated automatically.

Silverfast worked well before with ICE but know it doesn't - there is some problem.

I have deleted the preference file according to the description. it doesn't help: i can change between any ice/srd settings now and they are displayed as I want them in the gui : but the scan result remains always the same, whatever settings I use... as if silverfast is somehow blocked in one setting.
As I wrote, I have even uninstalled silverfast and i have deleted the pref-files...and the problem remains.
Also another software like nikon scan does behave as it should and ICE works fine. So, the scanner itself can't be the problem ...it must be silverfast.

therefore would appreciate some advice, sind I should scan my work immediately and doing so without ICE is hopeless.

thanks
Phil
