Hi All,

I am breaking in a new coolscan and running into some issues. If I put the negative adapter in the unit LS says there is no film / adapter and closes.

If I start LS with the slide mount adapter in it workes fine. Then I switch to the neg. Adapter and try and get LS to handle my Xpan panoramic transparencies. Can't get LS to recognize the whole transparency even if re-prescan to re-set the image parameters.

Any advice for these two issue appreciated.

i think you have found a known bug (NS and SF IIRC) . Before you start Silverfast, turn the scanner off , insert the Neg adapter, and then turn the scanner on. Once it is up, then start Silverfast. SHould fix it , unless there are problems with getting the adapter in correctly.

I'll give it a try. Curious that LS was fine with the single slide mount (default) loaded but not the an adpter with a. electronic synch to the machine - maybe that is part of the issue.

Hi,

probably you have no film strip inserted into the film adapter; try inserting the film strip before invoking SilverFast.
(The message says "no adapter/FILM found" - it took me a while to figure that out, too...)

I think that it should be considered a bug that SF for the Nikon 5000 will not launch without the film strip being inserted.

NikonScan doesn't care.

SF should launch and lay in waiting for film to be inserted.

The same problem I found with Nikon 4000ED .... :/

Did you check if your adapter is supported?
