Hello,
Just installed SF on my new computer with all program updates to version 6.4.1 and when I start the App. V 1.1.5 it hangs in "searching devices".
Scanner is recognized in Windows device manager, and works just fine with Nikon Scan v. 4.0.
What's the problem?
HELP!!
Searching Devices forever on LS8000 SF V 6.4.1r4b Windows

Dear Greg Whitaker,
to enjoy our exelent software please update your SF App. You are using an old version. In the meantime our standalone is called: SF Launcher and the newest version is: 2.07. I don?t know from where you got this old version, but anyway - look at : https://www.silverfast.com/show/sf-launcher/en.html and after downloading the SF Launcher exchange it with your old version. The launcher and the SilverFast ( NikonM) plug-in should be in the same folder.
best regards
Christoph

Dear Greg
thank you for your interest in LaserSoft Imaging's software products.
Please make sure that the scanner was initialized in this manner:
(1) Start the scanner, wait for initialization - scanner is ready when LED is no longer flashing.
(2) Put film/slide on film/slide holder, insert into scanner, wait until ready (cf. LED status).
(3) Start SilverFast.
Also, you might want to disconnect non-essential USB and firewire devices from your computer (i.e. especially other scanners, digi- and webcams), to learn whether or not there's a driver conflict.
Restart your system after disconnecting these, so that the corresponding drivers won't get loaded by the operating system and can't trouble access to your LS-8000.
Another possibility for causing such an issue is hardware based: Please try a different cable, different cable length (but no longer than 3 meters), and/or different ports in the computer.
Lastly, an obscure cause of the problem, but nevertheless sometimes occuring:
Some notebooks turn off internal devices that have gone unused for a certain period of time when running on battery - and fail to repower these up properly.
Though this normally shouldn't pose a problem to real firewire devices (but can well do for SCSI scanners connected to the notebook with a firewire-to-SCSI adapter).
To avoid a trouble as described check your power management settings or simply run the notebook with a power cord.
If the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact SilverFast support using the problem report form:

Please refer to this posting for faster resolution of your trouble ticket then.
Kind regards
