there is the button ("sun") in the preview window which turns on/off Auto-Exposure inside the scanner (right ?)

Under options/misc there is a way to set scanner exposure (with histogramm displayed).
How do these functions relate?

Eg. when AutoExposure is on: Are these settings ignored ? Or always relative to the exposure the scanner determines ?

What happens when I switch AutoExpsoure off ? Will the scanner apply the same exposure as with the last scan/preview ? Or it takes the settings from the Control in the Options/Misc tab ?

Another question.

I want to batch-scan an entire film with the same scanner-exposure setting. I would choose a "refernce" negativ, set exposure for it (can I have Silverfast/the scanner measure best expousre ?) and use this setting for the entire film. the film is cut into several strips, so I will have to change fimstrips inbetween.

Dear Ernst,
With the button " Sun " you can turn on / off the automatic brightness of the scanner lamp.

Under Options / Special you find the tool: Lightness. With this tool you can change the different colour chanels of the lamp. This could be usefull, if the scannerlamp is very old. Therefore its colour temperature changed a little bit and you will have problems to calibrate the scanner. This tool under Options/ Special has nothing to do with the AutoExposure button at the preview window.

If you switch off the AutoExposure the scanner will apply probably the last value.

Please switch on the AutoExposure, chose all other settings make a prescan and save this settings. If you made now a BatchScan these settings should be applied for the whole film strip.
