I'm using SilverFast AI 6.2.1.r8 with a Nikon LS-2000 scanner on a Windows 2000 Server (w/Service Pack 4) system.
I got a system crash after scanning a number of slides. After the reboot, I only get a black screen when I do the Prescan. SilverFast says that it is focusing and setting the exposure, but I only get a completely black prescan image.
I rebooted again and this didn't solve the problem.
I reinstalled SilverFast 6.2.1.r8 and this didn't solve the problem.
If I use the Nikon Scan pluggin, the scanner seems to work fine and I get an image scanned and returned to Photoshop.
Any ideas about what I can do next? I need to get some more scanning done soon.
Thanks!

One other thing to try. Go looking for the preferences folder for Silverfast and delete it. THen restart SF. SF changed the location recently, i think it is under your user account, but it also could be within PS's pluging area as well.
Check the manual or search the forum because i have seen it documented here recently.
