Hi-
I recently bought and installed both Photoshop CS, and SilverFast Ai 6, for my Nikon LS2000/Mac G4.
I also have photoshop version 7 on this same older model G4.
When I use version 7, and go through the "import" command, Silverfast recognizes the LS2000 scanner just fine and opens instantly, ready to go to work.
However when I follow the exact same proceedure in CS, it says, "cannot locate scanner, make sure it is plugged in and turned on."
Well I know it is plugged in and turned on since it recognizes the scanner just fine in photoshop 7. But not in CS.
Any ideas what is going on here?
Thanks,
James

Dear jbmpix.
For individual scanner or software problems, please always open a support request via Email to http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport ... stallation and attach the SF_logfile. The SF_logfile contains essential valuable information for further problem analysis, i.e. Scanner model and firmware version.
The earlier you provide this information to our support staff the faster your problem will be solved.
Users that have provided this information will be answered prior to the users that have not.
As we have stated earlier, the forum is a platform for users to share their experience. No individual support requests should be posted here --> viewtopic.php?p=9763&highlight=#9763
Kind regards.

My apologies, this is my first time here since I just recently aquired SilverFast, and I saw other questions asked and answered on the forum so I figured it was okay to do the same. I will send an email. Where do I locate the file you refer to in your message (again, I am new to SilverFat so please be specific.)
So, to be clear for the future, is this forum just for "feel good" posts? No problems here??
thanks,
James

A Forum without Support?
What's the point of having a forum if you can't get an answer to a question? That was the only reason I joined. You know since you can't get an answer from the SilverFast when they're closed, while the rest of the world continues to work.
I've had no success with this product. I can't get my slide scanner to even show up and v**s**n seems to be the only product that works reliably, how can a program that cost 1/3 the price out shine this one?
Is there a useful forum for SilverFast?

jbmpix,
Have you tried the standalone app - Launcher ?
Same result ?
Marcy - submit the problem report to get it in the support pipeline AND post to the forum if you want to see if other users have had the same issue. If some of us can help, we will. But many times other users will not be able to solve the problem and SF support will have to figure it out. SO the sooner you submit the problem report the better. And SF gets a better idea of what needs priority work !

same problem - new scanner.... Oi vey
Since I first posted my earlier message about my LS2000 not being recognized by Silverfast, I've sold that scanner and bought the 5000. But guess what; same problem. I am having to shut down photoshop (CS) and restart it in order for the SF software to recognize the scanner (this is happening after I go to file/import/Silverfast (Nikon M) in photoshop.) Then, after completing a scan, if I try to do another it tells me that it cannot find a scanner. So, I shut down photoshop and start all over again.
As you can imagine, this is getting to be a bit annoying. Any ideas on how to solve this (has anyone experienced similar) would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I understand that I am to submit the SF Log File with any problems to support. So far, I cannot find the SF log file. Any pointers on this would also be greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
James

Dear James
On a Mac OS X PC you will find the SF_Logfile in /Users/(your username)/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging.
On a Windows 2000 or XP system the SF_Logfile is placed within /Documents and Settings/(your username)/Application Data/LaserSoft Imaging.
If you haven't yet changed the standard setting of the Windows Explorer you won't see any folder "Application Data". You then want to open the folder options dialogue (from "Extras" the menu) and go to the "View" tab. There you can enable the Explorer to show you hidden and system files and folders as well as displaying the contents of system folders.
On older operating systems like Windows 98/ME or Mac OS 9 you will most probably find the SF_Logfile within the the program folder of Adobe Photoshop /Plugins/Import-Export/(SilverFast).
You could of course also you the search function of your system to find the "SF_Logfile". Please make sure that you will be shown hidden and system files. The SF_Logfile is always created anew when SilverFast is started up, even if no scanner can be found, it will be created.
To enclose it in a trouble report ( http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html ) , simply open it with your text editor (double clicking the SF_Logfile) and select all the text (Win: CTRL+A; Mac: CMD+A). Then copy the selection to the clipboard (CTRL+C / CMD+C).
Go back to the problem report and click inside the text field. Move the text cursor to the end of your problem description and insert the SF_Logfile from the clipboard (CTRL+V / CMD+V).
Kind regards
