6.0.1r46 LS-40 Mac OS X - won't scan

I upgraded Silverfast Ai to 6.0.1r46.

Now when I scan from Photoshop 7 or the stand alone app it will
do the focus and measuring phase, but hangs up starting the actual scan.
The app is not reponding. The spinning color wheel appears on the screen,
and I can see the scan light blinking but not moving. I have to force quit
the application.

Interestingly, now when I attempt to run Photo 7 under classic SFAi can't
find the scanner. Same seems to be true when running Photo 7 under X
when classic is running. I have to stop classic in order for Photo 7 or
the standalone to recognize the scanner. (Yes, I've deleted NikonScan)

So now I'm dead out of the water. Before at least I could scan under
classic. Now no dice. Luckily I've saved the installer for r12 so I'll
try going back to it. This is a nightmare!

everything works fine now.

Just tried that. No luck. I searched for and deleted every silverfast
folder on my system, and then installed r46. Same thing. Starts to scan and
then hangs.

Note that I did upgrade the Firmware on the LS-40 to the latest from Nikon.
I wonder if that's the problem.

Next I'll try downloading the latest NikonScan and see if the scanner is still working.

Note also a major flaw in the SFAi installer. If you have Photoshop 7 installed both under OS X and OS 9/classic, the installer asks if you to choose.
But the choice is:
Photoshop 7
Photoshop 7

There is no way to differentiate that one us under Applications
and the other Applications (Mac OS 9). As a result I had to run
the installer twice because the first listed Photoshop was the OS 9
version.

did you delete the NIKON files + folders too?
or disable them first by renaming then to "_Nikon...."

when i had this problem i first deleted only the silverfast folders with no success

after i deleted the nikon folders too i was happy :-)

I have verified that the scanner is working.

I downloaded Nikon Scan 3.1.4 and installed it.
The scanner, with the 1.20 firmware, works fine.

Unfortunatly, I prefer to use SFAi.
But I'm stuck now having to use Nikon Scan until something gets fixed.

By the way, I'm running under
Mac OS X 10.2.4

I hate it when stuff like this happens.

Yes. I had deleted all the Nikon files earlier, on the suggestion of one of the
SFAi support folks. Didn't make any difference.

I suspect this is all happening because I updated to OSX 10.2.4

*Sigh*
