Is it normal to get dark slides when scanning Velvia slides?

Using a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED and I get dark scans every time with SilverFast 5.5 AI
Any tips for scanning?

I have a Nikon 4000ED, and I too get 'dark' scans.
The only solution I have found is to set the Exposure setting in the Negafix window to +2.5 or +3.

Gregory,
Velvia is a positive type film - NegaFix will make a mess of Velvia scans
Try turning OFF the the Auto Brightness/Exposure function (light bulb symbol on the preview window toolbar) and see if that helps
