announcements

It would be nice if there were some announcement on the relevant pages regarding new versions of Silverfast.

For example, on 11.8.02 there was an update to Silverfast for Nikon film 4000ED scanner for Mac to 6.0.1r27. Nowhere to find out what's been fixed or if it does indeed now work with the new Dual CPU Macs (don't suspect so since Nikon there is still no word from Nikon on compatible Maid Drivers).

What does the revised version fix? And has Lasersoft applied ANY pressure on Nikon to develop compitable drivers?...The wait goes on.

You can inform yourself about the software modifications at

http://www.silverfast.com/show/history/en.html

It is true that a list with an overview of the available versions could be useful. However, a function checking automatically for new updates will be integrated to SF soon.

Thomas,

Please ensure that such a function can be disabled by savvy users as it is a FIRST ORDER pain in the butt even when implementated correctly. To date I have not found ANY auto checking facility worthy of anything other than swearing at!

Ian (not impressed by auto checkers!)

Well, i don't mind the auto check so much, just make sure it doesn't auto download. i would like to be able to set it to check once a week, maybe once a month for new versions. Hey, maybe we could kill two mosquitos with one swat---do the autocheck on a user schedule and when there is a new version download the bug fix list / new feature list as a quick ascii text file in a pop up box!

Thanks for your comments and proposals :D

One will be able to change the periodicity of the "update checker" and I'm quite sure it will be possible to switch it off (especially for Ian  ).
