Old Photo Problem

Greetings,

I received a PDF today of an image that needs correction. I asked them to give me either a neg, slide or the print for scanning if they can get it. While that is happening, I thought I'd run it by you folks to see how you would handle scanning this in the event the print looks the same, i.e. yellow cast. Is it just a question of balancing the yellow to neutral or do you think there is more to it than that? I might just scan it as b/w but I think for the moment, they want color. Clues tips etc? See attached.

Dear customer,

Have you already tried setting the highlights and shadows?
Try using the manual highlight tool (white triangle) on the yellow border:

Yea, that's what I did using the grey eyedropper on his coat and got this scan.

I wasn't sure if there was a built in fix for old photos suffering from various problems or not, hence my question but it came out ok. I then processed it further in Photoshop.

Looks good to me. ;-)
the eyedropper is the mid-grey pipette.
That is used to neutralize an image by clicking on a neutral grey area.
That image is particularly well suited for the use of that tool.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
