Consistent levels with reflective art

Scanning some old books and am not modifying the settings at all between these 2 scans. While there is certain amount of paper yellowing/rot on each image on some it seems that it's being exaggerated by looking at the levels via Photoshop. Any suggestions to have more consistent levels with the images within Silverfast?
Thanks

Dear Shekwork,
did you try setting the lights and shadows manually in SilverFast?
This might provide better results.
kind regards.

Do you mean the auto threshold highlight & auto threshold shadow? Both are set to 2. I attached a snap of my image settings. Or should I just manually adjusting levels while in Silverfast for every scan? Using an Epson Expression 10000xl.
Thanks

No not exactly the auto threshold values define how the image automatic works.
I was referring to the highlight and shadows tool. (the icon with the white and black triangle next to the Professor)
You can also set these values in the histogram (white/black triangle below histogram curve).
Here you can even set the values individually for each color channel.
You can also set the midtone here (grey triangle).
kind regards.
