I am still trying to scan a load of old slides, Im not having much success. They look good when saved but when they are viewed they are dreadful. (Look like they were taken under water). I think I need a very simple instruction sheet eg 1 put the slide in the viewer 2 click on prescan etc. Also why do I get multi scan. Very fed up. Kathleen

Have you tried using Scan Pilot to sequence what you do to the image ? or are you looking for guidance on how to use some of the tools and what to do to a scan ?
www.scantips.com has good information on the basics of scanning.
Have you had a look at Ian's tutorials for SF ?
Start here as Ian covers some of the basic tools.
http://www.computer-darkroom.com/sf5-negafix/edit.htm
The rest of his tutorials are here:

Katrin Eismann has a good book on Photoshop retouching and restoration of images. Might find it in the library.
If you have an image that you would like someone to comment on you can post a low resolution (72 ppi) version in this thread we will try to help.

I think I have the same problem. Everything looks fine in the preview, but when I press scan the little scan progress window and the resulting file is all blue/cyan "under water effect".

Unless you are scanning Kodachrome, it sounds like the Color Management System settings are not correct. Follow Ian's tutorials at the web site above.
