Hi
I have some slides that have some dark areas in it....when I brighten them up in photoshop after scanning i get in some parts quite ugly parts that are very grainy and have a magenta color cast. can I avoid them somehow?
I read that some people scan twice (once for the highlights, once for the dark areas) and than combine in photoshop .... but I cant find an option to control exposure...
also i tried auto-image that controls the light well...but changes colors of my images into something terrible.
I also tried 16xmultiscan, but it didn't help

to exterminate multiple colour casts, you might want to use the midpip4 pipette tool. Its uses are explained in the manual, "Ch5.02 Highlight-Shadow Tool" (PDF, 1.85 MBytes).

another suggestion is:

1. do use the multi scan - especially when the dar areas in slides are oimportant to u.
2. use the gamma properly.
3. make your adjustmentsas u would like to have midtones and highlights.
4. now use the "aaco" cunction.

this will give you a much better chance to get your image. but it needs experimenting and getting used to the "reaction" of aaco in different adjustment settings.
