What have others done to get rid of the little spots that show up on reflective scans where the print touches the platin. You know, when you have a very glossy print and it is placed face down on the plattin, there are little touch points that show up as grey splotches.
At the service bureau I used to work at, on of our scanner operators would blow a puff of (I think) baby powder in the air and with the other hand, pass the glossy side of the print through it.
Does anyone else have any better idea's?

Dear Mgilvey,
you should try to find a newton glass manufacturer and order a very thin plate to fit your scanners bed.
There already have been many users creating own holders, plates that way.
I don't have a direct link, but you should find something on the web.
kind regards

Dear customer,
yes I know - but this would be the best and cleanest opportunity instead of using an oil bath on the scanner.
kind regards

Now I know why all those glass mounts (Wess and Gepe) we use to get for doing slide shows were so expensive.

A Budget Solution!
Spray either the scanner glass or the photo, depending which you value most, finely with a good quality hairspray, Elsnet is the best for this in my opinion and has been used for many years since the days of drumscanners.

Paul

If you do not like hair spray try Tetenal 'Anti Newton Spray' Art.No. 101638 to be removed by ordinary film cleaners (Art.No. 105198, 105198, or 105140),
perfect on film, scanners, and enlargers.
Possibly not as budget as hairspray (appr. 9 Euro).
