Negative protective cover

Kodak is putting plastic flaps attached on the edge of the strips of developed negatives for scratch and dust protection. What is the best way to deal with them on flatbeds? Rip them off for better fit in the holder or lift them, push them back and squeeze them under the film holder? (the side where the flaps are attached will not close completely).

Dear greekstar

although I appreciate Kodak's idea and attitude of putting thought into the fine li'l details of the everyday use of film material, the plastic flaps mentioned in some rare cases indeed cause the film to bend in certain film holders.

This probably is not how you might want to scan your images. But as long as your images don't cause greater hassle when trying to fit them into the holder, they instead might save the material from accidental scratching.

So, it is up to personal taste, if you'd ask.
