File naming

Is there a way to automate file naming when scanning individual frames?
I have for the moment given up on batch scanning strips, as I cannot find a way to reliably scan frames without having misalignments. So now I use the hardware buttons on my Reflecta RPS to advance the frames and correctly align them. But at each frame, I need to think about changing the file name in the "Scan dimensions" panel. Is there a any way to have it pick up the next filename in a sequence?

Dear customer,
If you leave the filename unchanged the files will be automatically numbered.
file
file (1)
file (2)
file (3)
This is the only automatic file naming available for single scans.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

This is a pity. Especially as those file names include a space and a special character (opening parenthesis). To avoid problems, I (and many others) do stick to unaccented letters, digits, dash and underscore for my file names.
Also with this numbering scheme, file sorting is lost when you scan more than 9 frames...

Are there still the same restrictions with setting the filenames automatically?
It would be really, really great if you would support a standard format structure like
name %03d.tif (eg 'name 001.tif', 'name 002.tif', ...)
name %05d.tif (eg 'name 00001.tif', 'name 00002.tif', ...)
And the integer value would be increased automatically with each scan.

Dear customer,
automatic file numbering is included for scanners capable of batch scanning several images automatically.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

This works when I scan a film stripe.
But not for single scans.
I imagine that the automatic naming feature works for each folder independent - but depending on the existing files in that folder.
When I switch the folder then the present index should be automatically set (depending how I defined the format structure of the filename).
When I set the Name format to 'Image %03d.tif' and in folder A are already 'Image 001.tif', 'Image 002.tif' and in folder B 'Image 001.tif' then the next scan in folder A should be named 'Image 003.tif' and in folder B 'Image 002.tif'.
The present automatic naming function also doesn't seem to allow me to give the scanned images names like 'Image %05d - raw.tif'.
(eg 'Image 00001 - raw.tif', 'Image 00002 - raw.tif', ...) Or am I mistaken?

Dear customer,
Yes the auto numbering is only available in Batch-Scan mode.
Placeholders like % are not used. You can simply enter the number of leading zeros in the start index field.
If you switch folders you will have to enter the start index manually.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

hi guys i hope silverfast would create a feature that actually has a automatic day/time/year /image no/ automatically generated also a new folder overtime you scan in batches would be best so the software won't actually overwrite the previews day's image scan

Dear user,
the creation date is automatically entered in the image metadata.
Existing files are not overwritten. The operating system automatically creates a file with an attached number.
Kind regards,
Arne
