Hello,
When using the "48 bits HDR" scan type option in SilverFast Plus, you obtain a raw scan. Therefore, are you obliged to use the SilverFast HDR program to edit your image or can you still use Photoshop (or Nikon Capture by instance) to correct your image?
I'm mostly scaning slides. SilverFAst is brand new to me. Thanks for your kind response.

Not really, you can open your picture with any imaging application capable of handling 16 bit TIFF files.
48 bit raw files created in SilverFast have a linear gamma gradation (1.0) you will have to manually correct this in the third party application (please refer to each applications instructions). This task is automated in SilverFast HDR.

After scanning in 48bits ( archive mode of silverfast) you can work with Lightroom 4 with 48 bits and PS


Note that some functions of PS Elements 10 work in 8 bits mode per channel ( = 24 bits ) and other in 16 bits per channel ( 48 bits)
