Printing with AI Studio 6

I have recently upgraded to AI studio 6 for OS X. I am still learning the powerful tools this software offers. I am thinking of upgrading to Ver 8, but first, I have a general question about outputting the scans i made with sliverfast studio Ai to a printer.
I see Lasersoft talks alot about inkjet printing and calibrating when discussing IT-8 and .icc profiles. Does this mean that Inkjets are superior to print with, or are laserjets just as useable?
I am still relatively new at this and apologize for the 'newbie' question
But i would like to get the best printer that will give the best results.
