Prescan not showing corrected images when using Job Manager

Postby kjmacuser » Mon Aug 08, 2011 4:17 am

Hello,
New to this forum, so any help is appreciated. Not new to Silverfast, but just upgraded to Ai so I can use Job Manager.

In general, when I Prescan a Batch Scan and put those images into Job Manager, make corrections to one of the images (which shows those changes in the Prescan window), save like I am supposed to, and then copy the one image parameters over to the remaining images all of the image specs in the Job Manager window change (resolution, filter, output sizes, etc.) but the actual images in the Prescan window and Job Manager window don't show any color changes. Only the one image shows any color changes.

After I did this I sat perplexed thinking I must have done something wrong. Tried it a few more times with no success. After trying to search Silverfast and the web for some solution I said "what the heck" and hit the scan button to see if the actual scans would work. And they did. The color corrections I made to the first image showed up in all of the tif files.

As far as I can tell I am doing everything right in Job Manager...so is this an actual thing in the Prescan window when using Job Manager that it does not show all color corrections? Am I doing something wrong?

Attached is a photo of what I am seeing. Thanks for your help!!

Hello kjmacuser

No, actually the preview window shows you only the active frame, hence you do not see the changes on the rest of the images, if you select any of the other images you will see it works the same way.

Hello again. I guess I should have said that too....when I do try and click on the other frames in the Prescan window or try to edit from the Job Manager, they do not show the color changes either.

If I have the original color corrected image selected in the Prescan window it does show the color corrections, even in the Job Manager window (Prescan1 photo). When I select any another frame the corrections do not show up, even when in Edit Mode within the Job Manager (Prescan2 photo). As you can see in the attached photos, within the Job manager window it shows the original corrected image with the corrections made (top most image in the little window). But the other image selected still does not show any corrections.

Could it be in the way I imported the images into the Job Manager? Or what I am selecting in the Copy Parameters pop-up? All I corrected on the first image was clicked Image-Automatic, then tweaked the Histogram. If there were color corrections made to all images wouldn't it show them in the Job Manager window too?

Thanks again!

You do not see the changes because they have not been applied to those images yet, they will be applied during the endscan. If you are interesting in transmitting settings from one scan frame to the next one in the preview window you can do it by pressing and holding Alt while clicking on the target images.
