Can SF SE scan multiple negatives?

I have an Epson V700 and am scanning a lot of (old) 35mm colour negatives. I have both Epson Scan software and Silverfast SE - both bundled with the scanner.

With the Epson software I can pre-scan 4 strips of negatives in the holder and the individual frames are automatically located so I can then choose exactly which frames to scan (from all to just one perhaps). With Silverfast SE I find that the individual frames are often not properly located and even when I have adjusted this I find I can only scan one frame at a time. This makes the process extremely slow.

Can someone advise me whether this is a limitation of the software or perhaps that I simply don't know how to use it properly?

Thanks

Dear Finnkai,

please use a Epson film holder and make a prescan. Klick on "searching frames" and switch the scanmode in the general tab to "batch mode". All frames will be scanned now.

Thanks. I have now managed to do this but have one more question.

Is there an easy way to set the scanning resolution for all the frames to (say) 2400 dpi? Also the negaative film type? At present I find I have to set each one individually because when the scanner starts up they are all set to 150 dpi and have no film type. When there is a large number of frames (16 or more) this takes quite a time!

Dear Finnkai,

unfortunately you must make the setting for each frame.
To make the workflow easier you need SilverFast Ai.
There you can save the settings and scan the batch automatically with it.
