So why is my 5.5.0r06/Powerlook 3000/WinXP/Photoshop7 running without any problems?

because you are ahead of us. We do not have Photoshop 7 for Windows here, and as SilverFast is not properly tested, it is not approved by us.

Kohler,
That surprises me - PhotoShop 7 has been available to consumers here in the US for over a month now. I would think that Adobe would give an advance version of PS7 to developers like Lasersoft. Obviously that's not the case - that's pretty pathetic that Adobe offers so little support.
Keep up the good work over in Kiel

If it's any help - I am using HDR 5.5x with PS7 on Win 98/98SE/Me/Win2K and XP. I haven't got a scanner connected to these units at present, but do recall scanning with the Epson 1200U a few weeks back. I was on the PS7 Beta program so had the opportunity to test SilverFast on all platforms - it works on them all for ALL the scanners I have here.

Photoshop 7 hasn't been released in all languages yet and the Software Development Kit is also only on VERY limited availability (i.e. Beta testers only). LaserSoft did have a copy , at least for OSX and Mac OS 9.x!
You MUST also realise that occasionly there are VERY good reasons why the SDK shipping version isn't released at the same time as the software. The blame usually lies with folk who don't give a "rats ass" for the development teams at either end - I ain't saying any more!

I have been using the latest versions of Silverfast with PS7.0 without too much trouble. I am using the Win2K Operating system on an Athlon based system. At first, Silverfast would crash PS7.0 when scanning in 48-bit mode and at the highest scanner resolution (4000 dpi on a Polaroid SS120). After installing a windows patch, everything worked ok again.

Glad to report that SF v5.3.2 for Nikon LS30 works well with Photoshop v7.0 on my Win2k Pro box; it even completed IT8 calibration, something that the previos SF v5.2.1 stubbornly refused, claiming (incorrectly) that selection border was improperly set. It would be strange for SF not to work properly: Photoshop v7.0 has some new features as compared to v6.0.1, but not too many, and it might well have been designated v6.5.

I'm happy to report that SF 5.5.2r15 for Epson Expression 1600 works flawlessly as far as I can tell with PhotoShop 7. I agree with Tomaz that it should've been call 6.5. Also, I'm anxiously awaiting any news on Silverfast 6.

I run PS7 on a PIII800 with 512SDRAM and Win2000Pro. I do have one problem with AI5.5 Negatifix and Epson 1640Photo: if I prescan a second time, the result is suddenly a lot darker. I suppose that the Levels command I set is applied twice to the second scan.
Apart from this everything works fine. And I close AI after every scan and reopen it for the next.
(only, just now my scanner is in difficulties: it produces a green line in the length of the scanner bed, and very close to the center...this will cost money...)
