I have ben using Silverfast and just obtainedGenuine Fractals. I use SF to sharpen scanned 35mm slides (positive), but GF reccomennds that sharpening be done AFter GF has enlarged the original image, to avoid artifacts. Does anyone have experience with both of these programs? I'd like to keep using SF for sharpening and avoid doing it in PhotoShop.

I use both programs as well, and I wouldn't do ANY sharpening prior to saving it as a Genuine Fractals .sti file. To sharpen, open the GF file, specify the size, then do your sharpening. Sharpening before converting to GF throws off the whole process.
Besides, sharpening is the very last thing that one should do before outputting the file for press, print, or web.
