Per MacFixit and Version Tracker, Silverfast Ai, version 5.5.2d10 is now (April 29) available for the Epson Perfection 2450 Scanner in OS X. at a price of $99. However, I can't determine from the Lasersoft site (wonderful products, confusing website) (a.) how to be sure I'm ordering this particular version and (b) whether it does include, as yet, or will include, a plug-in to allow direct scanning into Photoshop 7. It occurs to me that Version Tracker has made an error and the Silverfast product available now (at $99) is an upgrade to Silverfast HDR, not Ai. For the time being I am scanning into Classic, but will want to purchase Ai for OS X as soon as it is available with a Plugin for Photoshop 7. I would be glad for clarification on this. Thank you.

a) when ordering OSX version, just select it in the OS field
b) there are 2 plugins included - a Photoshop 7 one and a stand-alone.

Thanks, LSI_Liudas. Finally got everything squared away, with Silverfast Ai 5.5 for OS X and my Epson scanner, facilitated by the Twain module available with the beta Epson Scantofile from the Epson Developers' site.
