Silverfast Automatic Descreening Performance Scaling

Hi, I would like to know how I can decrease the time it takes to use automatic descreening in Silverfast. I am confused why my descreening times are not scaling according to my system hardware. I thought that descreening heavily relies upon cpu speed & ram. So I ran a test with the latest version of Silverfast on 2 different systems. 1 system is a dual Xeon quad core system running at 3 ghz 12 gb ram. The other system was a Intel I7 quad core system running at 2.6 ghz with 3 gb ram. The dual xeon system is running Vista 64 and the other system Vista 32. On the dual xeon system it took approximately 6 minutes to run a scan with automatic descreening enabled at 300 dpi. On the other system it took approximately 7 minutes. I know that there are multiple factors that can affect performance such as image size and other Silverfast settings but this was a raw art scan no bigger than 5x7. Another baffling issue is I watched the cpu & ram resources via taskmanager and the cpu usage on both systems did not exceed 20% while ram usage also did not exceed 2 gb. Various other video rendering programs, games, & Adobe editing programs seem to scale according to hardware capabilities but Silverfast performance remains stagnant offering a 15% speed increase for roughly double the processing power.

Anyways it's still the best program out there & I look forward to the coming improvements.

Thanks

Dear Customer,
with the next major release we will also optimise SilverFast to use all available CPUs much better than it does now.

Not to be impatient but does that mean Silverfast 6.7 will have a new rendering engine that utilitizes all cpu cores? Is it safe to assume based on version 6.6 release time frame that this is due in November to coincide with Windows 7 support? The reason why I'm overly anxious is that I have a pile of art that needs to be desscreened and have been postponing till automatic descreening becomes faster because I can't afford to have someone get one done at every 10 minutes.

Thanks & keep up the good work

Dear Shekwork ,

Windows 7 support will be implemented in the current verison of SilverFast. The new major release I am talking about will still take some time.
