Overview Scan in 6.6

Hello,
Using 6.6 for my Nikon 9000 and Epson 10000XL and I am pretty happy. After uninstalling old version and installing the 6.6, I have three things that I would like to ask:
- Scanning my films, the overview scan now takes significantly longer, since each frame seems to be scanned seperately. Is this a preference that can be switched off, and I can return to do the Overview in one scan?
- The orientation of the image is wrong. In the main window of SF the image is shown the right way, but SF than turns the image and opening the file in PS, it is 90 degrees turned. Do I have to change a setting?
- Is there still an issue with the length of file names?
Thank you.

I think you are refering to the Nikon version of SilverFast 6.6 for Mac, we needed to rewrite the lowlevel driver and do not use the Nikon Maid library anymore.
This Library gave us the possibility to do this quick overview scan, now as we do not use it any more this is gone but the normal prescan is much more accurate anyway.

very strange, is it possible that you used the densitometer to flip the image ?

Thanks for the quick answer,
Regarding the odd orientation problem, with scans being upside down and such: I deleted the preferences, and now everything works as it should. I must have set unwillingly something before.

Regarding the Overview Scan: I am not sure I understand your remark with the preview scan being much more exact, than the overview. Of course it is, but how can I select images out of a film strip without doing overview scans of the tray? Isn't the baseline that I have to live with the fact that my workflow is now slightly longer, or do I misunderstand your answer?

Thanks, Peer-Olaf

Dear Peer-Olaf,

the change of the Overview Scan behavior is connected to the fact that we used the Nikon maid library in earlier versions of SilverFast that provided this function. We do not use Nikon maid anymore because it lacks leopard support because of this our development created a new native way to connect to the Nikon Scanner.

Dear Thomas,
I completely understood, that you are not using the Nikon driver anymore. My question was in regards to you comment earlier, saying :
"now as we do not use it any more this is gone but the normal prescan is much more accurate anyway."
That sounds like a can replace using an overview scan with doing a "prescan".

Thanks, Peer-Olaf

Dear Peer-Olaf,

the change in the behaviour of the overview scan is also related to the Nikon driver, there is nothing we can do about it.
