SF Studio questions

I have a Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 II scanner and am running Photoshop CS3. I just received SF Studio/IT8 and have a few questions:

1. Should I install SF stand-alone, via Photoshop CS3, or as Twain? From what I've read, I don't think Twain is a viable option for my application, but I don't know since I'm new to this.

2. Should I launch and activate SF via Photoshop option or SF Launcher option?

3. I will be getting Photoshop CS4 in a few days. Is SF Studio compatable with CS4 and/or should I wait until I install CS4 before installing SF Studio?

Thanks for any help on this.

Don

Dear Don,

1. Yes I would strongly reccomend installing the Standalone version of SilverFast it is a much more professional than the twain one which lacks colormanagment

2. this absoloutly depends on your pesonal workflow

3. as Photoshop CS4 is still a beta version we do not support it right now please be aware that you however can use SilverFast as a standalone application with the SF Launcher and than open the scanned image in CS4 if you want to.

I really hope you enjoy working with SilverFast!

Actually it looks as if I won't be installing or using anything. I bought my 5400 II over a year ago and have lost my original disks. When I turned my scanner on the other day I got a message that the computer didn't recognize it so I should insert my original disks. So now I have expensive software I can't use and a scanner that is worthless.
I called Sony and they weren't able to help.
