Problem with scanned files not showing edits

I am a beginner user and probably just have not done something simple. I am using a Microtek i900 flatbed and scanning 35mm slides. I have Windows XP. After scanning an overview I make edits to color balance etc. to the images. I then scan them using the Job Manager to a file. When I look at the files created, none of my edits are there. They are just the images that were scanned initially without any of my corrections. Why is this? What have I not done?
