Basic Scans for Lightroom Post Processing

I am looking for a list of the best scan settings for scanning using a Plustek 7500 scanner to scan 35 mm ektachrome slides. All adjustments post scan will be done in Lightroom. I would prefer not to make adjustments in Silverfast first and then adjust them a second time in Lightroom.

Here is the set-up I am currently using --
Silverfast version 6.5 V 5r2
Mode: Standard
Scan Mode: Normal (File)
Pos/Neg Positive
Scan Type 48-24 Bit Color
Filter None
I am scaling the scan as a 9.6 inch by 14.5 inch output from the original 0.9 to by 1.4
resolution is Photo print 300 dpi) which results in a 35.77 MByte File
I am defaulting to Optic Film 7200i-Pos input
Internal - sRGB IEC61966-2.1
I am defaulting to 4 multiscans
I am saving the scanned file to a Lightroom Auto Import file.

I am looking for a simple set of directions or a tutorial that tells me why I should set up my default scans one way or the other so I don't have to test each alternative on my own.

I am using Windows Vista

Does anyone know where I can get some advice or instructions on whether or not my settings are correct? The Instructional videos are a good way to explain what the software can do but don't really explain why one should set the defaults one way or the other.

I seem to be getting scans that are good, I am not certain if I can be doing better.

Dear stlbob,

it should be possible to make a 48BIT HDR Scan save it as tiff file and than import it into Lightroom.
Please note that Negative film scanned in that way will not be converted to positive.
You also got the option to use SilverFast HDR to apply changes to your RAW scans and have the abillity
to use all the original SilverFast tools after the Scan with SilverFast HDR.

Am I using the correct defaults for the OpticFilm 7500i when I use Optic Film 7200i-Pos input and
Internal - Adobe RGB 1998?

Should I be looking for an Optic Film 7500i-Pos as the default input?

Lightroom uses the Pro Photo RGB profile internally. Is the Adobe RGB 1998 the best output from SilverFast?

Also, are you aware of anyway to get the SilverFast software to automatically assign file names with incremental numbers to improve my workflow?

Dear Bob,

your settings seems fine so far.
If you are using the batch scan feature SilverFast will automatically add an increasing number to the end of your custom filename.
