Just bought a new Nikon CS5000. It has the new Vista 32 bit drivers which work very well on my Vista operating system running Nikon Scan 4 (version 4.0.3). However, when I follow the silverfast prompts to download the demo of SF Ai Studio, the wizard appears to install the program, but all that is in the SF folder is a readme file and an uninstall icon. The application is nowhere to be found. Tried a couple more times with the same result. Any one else having this problem with the demo. If I can't get the demo to run, no use ordering! :(

Did you get anything in the start menu or on the desktop ?

Were you in administrator mode when you installed ?

Nothing on the Desktop. In start menu had a new lasersoft folder that only had the readme file and uninstal icon as stated before. I was in admin mode.

i don't know if you were installing the plug-in or twain version .

Look in here:

Windows
SilverFast as Photoshop plug-in installs in
...Adobe / Photoshop / Plugins / Import-Export /
inside the " Import-Export " folder you'll find a file named "SilverFast(manufacturer).8ba" or only "(manufacturer).8ba" . If you right-click this file and subsequently select the "properties" option, a new dialog appears where you can select the version-card and read the version of that SilverFast*.8ba (Photoshop plug-in).
NOTE: Older SilverFast versions (3.x and 4.x) on Windows sometimes install directly into "Plugins" folder

SilverFast as TWAIN Plug-in installs in
<"drive"> / windows (or winNT) / TWAIN_32 / LaserSoft /
inside the "LaserSoft" folder you'll find a file named "SilverFast(manufacturer).ds". If you right-click this file and subsequently select the "properties" option, a new dialog appears where you can select the version-card and read the version of that SilverFast*.ds (TWAIN plug-in).

If nothing there, or the directories not created, then the installer probably had file create permission problems. Just in case it is an installer package problem, try the plain Ai version demo file or the HDR demo version.

Dear Ron,

It is likely that you have installed the twain version (as suggested by degrub).

The twain version is not a stand alone application, it needs a host program to be started, that is why you could not find the SF_Launcher to start the program.

Please try downloading and installing the Standalone/photoshop plugin, this is a standalone application that will allow you to work independently of other applications.
With this version you can use the SF_Launcher to start the program.

Thank you very much for your patience.
