I recently started using SilverFast with a new microtek F1 and found the software eventually quite user friendly. After some time spent on trial and error, the quality of the scans was indeed satisfying. The two problems I have encountered and haven't been able to solve so far are:
1/ when using a mask in the advance colour correction mode, the effect of the mask shows in the preview but isn't materialized in the scan.
2/ when I use 'find frame' with 35mm slides, it gives one single frame that covers the whole plate. When using it with a 120 mm negative strip however it did produce 3 frames according to the negatives on the film.
Lastly, it took me quite a while to find a sharpening producing a satisfying scan from a 35mm slides. Scans were at first very soft and after many attempts and all sorts of set-up in the manual unsharp mask window, I came to the conclusion that the automatic 'more unsharp mask' option was in fact giving by far the best result. In any case, any advice on how to improve the overall sharpness of the scan ( through specific ratio size/resolution or any other trick) will be greatly appreciated.
