Magenta tinge when scanning negative film

Hi

After some issues with my KM Dualscan 5400 Elite jamming and then producing scans with a yellow tinge on one side of the frame, I had it serviced and have been scanning slides with no problems.

Then I tried to scan a negative on Fuji 400ISO colour film of a sunset.

When I did the preview scan, it completed the scan and for a split second the image on the screen showed the correct colours, then everything went magenta.

Thinking it might be because the tones are all red - orange, I scanned an image of some buildings but still there is a massive magenta tinge. I then tried resetting SF to default, nothing.

I uninstalled SF, restarted the PC, reinstalled it and still the same problem.

However, slides scan perfectly well. What is happening here please?

Just curious, are you scanning in "positive " mode or "negative" mode ?

Negative mode. I wondered if I had done that too but the 'text box' says negative. :-?

What happens if you select another film type (i.e. generic at ISO 400)?

fixed

Hi RAG

In answer to your question, the exposure would change but the magenta tinge would remain.

I have uninstalled again, removed the Lasersoft folder, rebooted, downloaded 4.4.7 ( I was on 4.4.6), installed that and although the frame overview scan showed the magenta tinge, preview and main scan are all fine.

Very odd but I am back in business which is the main thing. I'd be interested in any ideas why this happened though.

regards

Matt
