Scitex EverSmart and EverSmart Pro

Is there any possibility that SilverFast will support the Scitex EverSmart and EverSmart Pro scanners at some point in the future?

The Scitex software that works with these scanners is very powerful but does not allow saving files in 16 and 48 bit, and only works with MAC OS 9.2. EverSmart Pro II and later scanners work with oXYgen software, which allows 16 and 48 bit saves and work with MAC OSX.

A SilverFast driver would be a great enhancement for these high end flatbeds, and my unerstanding is that quite a number of them were built.

I personally own an EverSmart Pro and could purchase a hardware upgrade to Pro II from Kodak that would allow 16 and 48 bit scans and use of oXYgen with OSX, but the cost, at more than $5k, is more than the going price of the scanner.

Dear Sanking.

There are technical and business related issues to your question. In any case we would need access to such a scanner in order to evaluate whether it is technically possible to realize a SilverFast version for this scanner. If we do get access to the scanner there is a 50% chance that it won't be possible.

I am absolutly positive that we won?t get any support, SDK or alike, from the manufacturer of this machine in order to support these scanners.

I completly agree that a SilverFast would be a great enhancement for these high end flatbeds (as much as for any scanner).

Best,

JAN
