Multi-Exposure with Reflecta DigitDia 4000 -> greenish pi

Hi all,

what is your experience with the multi-exposure feature? I've tried several settings, deleted all my prefs and lost my optimized frame-settings for batch-scanning, but the results are still the same as shown in the second picture...

Any suggestions are welcome,

Dear rowerman,

please make sure you are using the latest version available as free update as we fixed some issues with Multi-Exposure algorithms to counter issues with alignment problems which led to "colour shadows" and similar effects.

Best,

JAN

Hi Jan,

thanks for the comment. I'm using since released v6.5.0r5 and I'm wondering whether there is a newer version available? Or the same but with the fixed issues?

All my trials with ME returned greenish pics, the one was just an example.

Moreover, why cannot I save the picture in the well understood 3x8bit jpg-format? Isn't it possible to apply the same internal routines from the 48->24bit processing here again?
Currently (well, I'm obviously not able to use the ME, but that would be my process:) I'm saving the output to tif-files with >100Mbyte and batch-process them into the common jpg-format... what a waste of time and capacity.

Thanks and best regards,
rowerman

Dear rowerman,

MultiExposure now allows to perform scans to 24 bits, too, saved as Tiff or Jpeg.

Best regards
Martin

Hello Martin, Jan and all interested Silverfast-User,

I've tested the newest available version of Silverfast (v6.6.0r1a) in order to overcome the greenish effect while multi-exposure is active. Unfortunately - even 1,5 years after releasing this feature - it does NOT work for the Reflecta DigitDia 4000 scanners (using latest firmware v1.07) - at least not with mine.

And honestly, this is typical. I've bought the scanner to digitize some 1000 slides, but most of the time I've spend in troubleshooting and waiting for bugfixes from LaserSoft. I've spend hours in discussion with LaserSoft, dialed the hotline with cost to evaluate the problems - with no success. You said you could not reproduce the problems - but 2 years later they were fixed... That's why I still have hope that the ME-feature will work in 0,5 years - but I'm not sure whether I'd like to test it again for you.

A totally disappointed user,
- rowerman

Dear rowerman,

very strange results you are geting there, we just did some extemsive Multi-Exposure testing with this scanner and it worked just fine.
Can you please tell us if you scan in negative or positive mode ?

best regards,

Dear Mr. Luebker,

since this type of scanner is designed to scan slides, I'm scanning in positive mode. If written and posted a couple of times the detailed settings. The greenish style is somewhat better with 6.6.0r1a compared to earlier versions, but is still dominating the picture.

Regards,
rowerman

Dear rowerman,

very strange, as I allready worte in an earlier post we did extensive Multi-Exposure testing with this Scanner and we have not had theese strange greenish look.
The best thing for you to do would be to contact our support to see what the cause of this problem is.
It could also be possible that this is caused by a hardware failure.

best regards,
