v6.5 - What the ....?

I recently found some information on v6.5 and thought it might be worth the upgrade. Then things started to go off the rails.

This link, http://www.silverfast.com/show/version6-5/en.html indicates I can upgrade my version of Ai to the new 6.5 for $40 or $50. Attempting to do so, I was taken to a page with numerous prices depending on the version desired and there was no upgrade price, only full version price at any level. I went ahead from here and at the next screen I was required to input my existing serial #, which I did. The screen after this showed a cost of $49. It was a few bucks off but I figured what the heck.

The file downloaded and all I got was 6.5SE. I have a new serial # but when I try to input it to unlock the software, I get an error message indicating that I need to correct my name. The name I input is exactly the same as I used on my previous version and exactly the same as on my purchase confirmation. I cannot unlock even the SE version of the software.

What is the story with v6.5? Are existing users expected to pay nearly full price for a software they already paid for? No other software maker forces users to pay nearly full price to upgrade to a new version; but rather upgrades come at a heavily discounted price. That provides the incentive to upgrade.

I understand Lasersoft is a German company and that there may be some linguistic issues with the wording on the website but it appears to me there is some serious bait and switch action going on here. When I find information on one section of the website that indicates I can upgrade for $40 or $50 and then on another section find that I may have to spend around $300, something is very, very wrong.

What are you people at Lasersoft doing? I read the upgrade policy posted by the President and it's complete and utter nonsense and says nothing about the cost to upgrade to 6.5.

Clarify your position Lasersoft. Are you providing the upgrade from current version at the advertised $40 or $50 or not? If not, why not? Why does one section of your website state one thing and another section state something different?

We changed our web order form to avoid this kind of confusion in the future. Please accept our apologies.

When ordering online, please make sure to select your current software
and enter your serial number, so the website can correctly calculate upgrade pricing based on the version you already own- otherwise the prices shown are full version prices.
