Lost settings/preferences on upgrade to 6.5

Postby rkusa » Sat Jan 06, 2007 1:29 am

Since every time I've ever upgraded SilverFast, I've lost my settings, I've gotten into the habit of keeping copies of the files for safety so I don't have to go through redoing all the post-scan actions and settings. (I do that anyway just because SilverFast crashes so often for me.) So before I downloaded and installed the demo to upgrade to 6.5, I made sure I had copied both the Lasersoft folder in Preferences and the SilverFast folder in Applications.

And again, I opened the new plugin version of SilverFast from Photoshop, and all the settings were back to defaults...my old settings were gone. What is the problem here? I have no other applications that I update/upgrade that lose all my settings and preferences. They always migrate to the next version. Can I use my old settings by dragging them into the proper places for the new 6.5 version?

Also, they've never been really clear about which files actually contain the post-scan settings (levels, etc.) and which files contain things like your last scan file name, selection size, whether SilverFast reopens automatically after a scan....

Thanks for any help. I'm really hoping this new version corrects my crashing problem.

dear rkusa,

you can save your setting ( preferences ) by saving the complete folder " LaserSoftImaging "

On a typical Windows XP installation, the " Lasersoft Imaging " folder is to be found at: C: \ Documents and Settings \ (your username) \ Application Data \ Lasersoft Imaging

On a typical Mac OS X installation, the " LaserSoft Imaging " folder is to be found at:
/ User / (your username) / Library / Preferences / LaserSoft Imaging

If there is any problem left please use our online support:

kind regards
