Dear Derek.
Thanks for your interest in
PrinTao. If you have an icc-profile that describes your printer, paper and ink combination it is actually really simple to get a colormanaged print out of
PrinTao. You simply choose your printer on the bottom of the
PrinTao control window (usually sits on the left) and the individual icc profile mentioned above (leve the rendering intent to perceptual for now). Make sure you have the colormanagement turned off in the printer driver, since
PrinTao will do all the color conversions, and then choose the correct media type and dpi setting in the driver. Most printer drivers will install pretty decent generic icc-profiles for the appendant manufacturer. A tip: Doublecheck the settings in the driver each and every time you print because those will reset itself from time to time (depending on the driver). My experience is that the settings management seems very inconsistent. Also please verify that absolutly no nozzles from your printer are clogged by printing a test pattern. I have experienced similar problems which subsequently were due to the fact that the nozzles were clogged even overnight.
Feel free to post more questions. I will be monitoring this thread for the next couple of days.
Best,
JAN
