Silverfast 6.5 Ai Studio includes the new Multi-Exposure capability. I have a question regarding the use of this feature:

If the 48 bit Multi-Exposure scan is opened into Photoshop rather than Silverfast HDR, does the scan still show improved dynamic range on supported scanners?

The good news it that the increased dynamic range is contained in the image file. Look to the shadow detail for signs of improvement.

I recently upgraded to AI Studio for the Epson 4870 because of the new multi-exposure feature. The multi-scan button DOES NOT toggle to multi-exposure when following the directions - 48 bit color in transparancy mode. Has anyone with this scanner using CS2 with Windows XP been able to use this function? Tech support has not been helpful.

I have XP, studio, the 4870, but only CS. ME works only if the desktop is set in XP mode, not classic.

Thanks Mike. I have not heard any word from SF tech support. I switched to XP mode and the ME function works. Interesting bug which I have never run into before.

Initial ME scans with Fuji Pro 400H (color negative) are disappointing - very contrasty even after much tweaking. I'm just not seeing the improvement in shadow detail. The native Epson software is still much, much better. If anyone has a "formula" for good results with ME from color negative film, let me know.

jkrolick -- I'm away from the computer and scanner for the next couple of weeks. When I return I'll do some tests and see what I get.
